WINONA LAKE —  Grace Village Retirement Community is pleased to announce it has received a $12,162 grant from the Kosciusko County Community Foundation. These funds will support the new fitness center that will provide a variety of fitness options for its residents, employees and seniors in the community.

The new fitness center has been a dream for some time now, and Grace Village is very excited to be much closer than ever to bringing this much needed facility to the residents, staff and the community. Exercise is a crucial part of good health for every person, especially as we age. The new senior-friendly fitness facility will have an open floor plan to accommodate a wide variety of group fitness classes. Safe, effective exercise equipment will be installed to benefit cardiovascular health. Free weights will be added to benefit muscle tone and coordination. Patio doors will be installed to provide direct access to one of the beautiful courtyards. This new access will encourage walking or outdoor group classes as weather permits.

Just over 300 residents will benefit from the use of this conveniently located fitness center in the independent living wing of the facility. Travel can pose challenges to many residents, and they will no longer need to travel outside of the facility to engage in personal fitness goals. Approximately 225 staff members will also benefit from designated fitness times and programs. In addition, resident family members and seniors from Kosciusko County will be invited to attend targeted fitness programs alongside the active residents here at Grace Village.

The new fitness center fits perfectly with the mission to enable older adults to live to their fullest potential in the security of a Christian environment. The residents will be able to safely and effectively achieve their fitness goals leading to improved health and wellness.
