Arrest of Juveniles in Milford After Weekend Break-In
MILFORD — Four juveniles were taken into custody on Friday night, June 9, after breaking into a Milford residence.
Officers from the Milford Police Department responded to the 300 block of Williams Street, in regards to a report of individuals possibly breaking into a dwelling. As the officer arrived, three suspects fled the residence, but a juvenile female was taken into custody inside the house.
Officers requested the assistance of a canine unit from Winona Lake Police Department, which arrived and alerted to a vehicle that had allegedly been driven to the scene by one of the fleeing suspects. During the subsequent inventory of the vehicle, marijuana, paraphernalia and a large amount of tools were located. Milford officers then requested the assistance of detectives from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
During the course of the investigation, a male juvenile suspect returned to the scene and was taken into custody. Information was obtained that determined that the located tools were originally stolen from a location on Old Road 30, near the Kosciusko County Highway Department earlier in the spring.
Charges have been forwarded to the Kosciusko County Prosecutor and Probation Department on all four juveniles, which include:
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of paraphernalia
- Fleeing law enforcement
- Criminal Mischief
- Theft
The arrest of all juveniles was conjunctively investigated by the assistance of officer from the Milford Police Department, Winona Lake Police Department, Syracuse Police Department and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office advises that the defendant’s charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
