Contestants Reel In Prizes At Annual Fishing Derby

WARSAW — Saturday, June 3, Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department hosted the free annual Kids Fishing Derby and Casting Contest. The event was held at the Municipal Park, near Center Lake, in Warsaw.
Contestants were split into categories for the competition (4 and under, 5-8, 9-12 and 13-16). In addition to goodie bags for the first 100 kids, there were prizes for the 1st and 2nd place winners in each age range, along with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in the casting contest. A grand prize was given for the person who reeled in the largest fish of the day.
The event was catch and release only, and participants were required to bring their own pole and bait.
