NorthWood Duo, Wawasee Trio Highlight Softball Smarts
INDIANAPOLIS – Three softballers from Wawasee and two from NorthWood were among the selections for the 2017 ICGSA Softball Academic All-State.
Wawasee senior trio of Christy Carson, Hannah Haines and Madie Wilson were named Academic All-State among just over 100 selections from around the state of Indiana in all classes. NorthWood senior Summer Stillson was also named Academic All-State and classmate Hannah Stickley was an Honorable Mention Academic All-State choice.
Three other area players were chosen Academic All-State in Alexis Eiteljorge of Elkhart Central, Jordan Nemeth of Goshen and Brooklyn Howard of Manchester.
A host of area players were among the Honorable Mention All-State, starting with Samantha Shank of Fairfield and Ellie Milam for Manchester. Also were the trio of Mary Henderson, Elizabeth Bollinger of JoAnna Keilman of Mishawaka Marian, the duos from South Bend St. Joe of Sydney Swartz and Taylor Kowalski, Penn’s Danielle Watson and Katie Quinlan, and WInamac’s Gabrielle Behny and Camryn Kopka.
Also on the Honorable Mention list were Karis Brewer of Westview, Karis Cochrane of Elkhart Central, Kaitlyn Vice of Central Noble and Shannon Arndt of Bremen.
