Prosecution Team Holds Press Conference In Regards To Rovenstine’s Sentencing
WARSAW — Directly after this morning’s sentencing of former Kosciusko County Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine, the prosecution team held a press conference at Center Lake Pavilion.
In attendance were Marshall County Prosecuting Attorney Nelson Chipman, Jr., Marshall County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Tami Napler, Marshall County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Matt Sarber, Warsaw Police Officer Paul Heaton and Warsaw Police Chief Scott Whitaker.
Chipman led the conference by giving an overview of the case’s timeline. He reiterated many times that the case was originally about Kevin Bronson. The tables turned on Aug. 14, 2015 when Heaton was not able to access the jail to communicate with Bronson. That is when the intimidating phone call between Rovenstine and Heaton took place.
Heaton briefly spoke during the conference. He suggested that he is still unsure as to whether he will remain with the Warsaw Police Department and as a resident of the area.
Warsaw Police Chief Scott Whitaker spoke about the relationship between the department and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department. It is his hope that this case will not put a further strain on the relationship and the two will be able to work together to serve the community.
The defense, including Rovenstine, did not hold a press conference.
