UPDATE — Three-Vehicle Accident On CR 400S

One car ended up in a field with the driver needing extrication.
CLAYPOOL — Two people are in serious conditions after a three-vehicle accident earlier today, May 19. Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies and emergency personnel responded to the crash located at the intersection of SR 15 and CR 400S.
Officers arrived and located the first vehicle, a 1997 Ford Explorer, that was driven by Evelyn Powers, 39, Pierceton. Powers was suffering from a head, as well as a hand injury, and was transported to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, in serious condition.
Officers also located a second vehicle involved in the crash, a 2006 Ford Escape, driven by Jason Culp, 32, Peru. Culp refuse treatment at the scene.
A third vehicle, a 2007 Hyundai, was determined to have been driven by Patty Miller, 28, Winona Lake. Miller was extricated from her vehicle and transported to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, in serious condition with hip injuries.
A preliminary investigation by sheriff deputies determined that Powers had been southbound on SR 15 and lost control of her vehicle. Powers vehicle struck the northbound Culp vehicle, and continued forward, striking Miller’s vehicle that was also northbound on SR 15. Power’s vehicle continued off the roadway, striking a fence and guide wire attached to a utility pole.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Lutheran Kosciusko EMS and Warsaw\Wayne Township fire Territory.
- The Ford Explorer suffered rear-end damage.
- The Ford Escape left the roadway and hit an utility pole.
- Emergency responders work to extract the driver from the third vehicle.
