WINONA LAKE — Lakeland Christian Academy has announced the appointment of Joseph Elrod as its new Administrator. He will assume responsibilities on July 1, and will succeed Joy Lavender, who will be retiring after 12 years in the position. “I’m excited to join the LCA community and look forward to the many opportunities that lie ahead,” said Elrod. “God has moved in His unique and judicious way to bring me and my family to this wonderful place in our journey—it’s humbling and renewing to see how He works.”

Most recently, he served as the Secondary Principal at Elkhart Christian Academy in Elkhart, Indiana, where he managed the day-to-day operations of the secondary school and a staff of approximately 25 teachers. He also serves as a part-time professor at Grace College. He has spent 10+ years in the classroom teaching History, Economics, and Government for grades 7-12. He holds an Indiana Professional Educator’s License in a variety of subjects for Middle School & High School, along with an ACSI Educator’s Certificate.
Elrod earned his BA in History with a Speech Minor from Bob Jones University and his Masters of Biblical Studies from Baptist Bible College in Pennsylvania. Elrod and his wife, Emily, have 4 young children and will be relocating to the Warsaw area over the summer.
