WARSAW —  It is a bittersweet day at the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce as an open house to say goodbye to Member Relations Manager Jennifer Kerns took place from 9-11 a.m. today, May 11.

Kerns’ announced to the Chamber in late April that her husband, Joel, had received a promotion within his company, OneMain Financial. The news of her husband’s promotion was a bittersweet moment, as Kerns also announced it meant she was moving to Evansville.

A 2011 Tippecanoe Valley High School graduate, Kerns received a bachelor of science degree in both marketing and business administration from Grace College in 2014, with additional education in public relations, public speaking and leadership. In September 2013, she began an internship at the Chamber, serving as an administrative assistant.

Once she graduated from Grace College, she was offered a full-time job at the Chamber as the Main Street coordinator. In December 2016 she was promoted to member relations manager.

Kerns’ role as Main Street coordinator was a liaison between business owners and building owners, working to to ensure a low vacancy in the downtown area by businesses to downtown Warsaw. As the member relations manager, Kerns was responsible for serving existing members, as well as growing the Chamber’s membership.

She married husband, Joel, in January 2016 and they have been active members of the Warsaw community. They attended Warsaw First United Methodist Church’s The Connection, and could be seen at the Warsaw YMCA every day. Kerns was a Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club board of directors member and a 2017 Kosciusko Leadership Academy graduate.

The time since the announcement has been a whirlwind for Kerns, who admits it is all very bittersweet. The couple bought their first home back in the fall and have since welcomed their first puppy. The move to Evansville is just another big step forward.

Kerns’ position at the Chamber came naturally to her and she will be greatly missed.
