Whitko Sports Wrap: May 8
Baseball
The Whitko baseball team downed Wabash 9-3 Monday night.
Alex Robbins got the win on the mound with seven innings of work and three strikeouts. At the plate it was Zach Hewitt going 3-4 for the ‘Cats with three RBIs and a run scored. Alex Bechtold and Drew Bradford each added two hits for Whitko.
Whitko (17-4, 4-2) hosts Triton Tuesday evening.
Tennis
The Whitko girls tennis team came away with a solid 5-0 win against Fort Wayne Wayne Monday evening.
Morgan Keirn was victorious at one singles, 6-3, 6-1 while Delaney Keirn won at two singles, 6-1, 6-1. Jackie Werstler won at three singles by score of 6-0, 6-4. On the doubles courts it was Jessica and Gracie Hook winning 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles and Jenna VanCuren and Manon Sonneville winning two doubles, 6-3, 6-4.
The junior varsity also got the win, beating the Generals 3-2. Winning for the Wildcats were Blair Creamer, Kayla Schipper, and the doubles duo of Izzy Rayner and Katherine Ousley.
The Wildcats are back in action Tuesday at Manchester starting at 5 p.m.
Softball
The Whitko softball team topped Wabash 18-1 Monday night. The Wildcats used a strong start from Ellie Snep to help secure the win as she gave up no hits and struck out three in two innings. Shi Bradley came in as a reliever and also had three strikeouts while giving up just one hit.
Kennedy Krull led the way at the dish with three hits.
Whitko is now 14-4 overall and will play Rochester Wednesday night.
