Moore Steps Down As Jimtown Coach
ELKHART – The Jimtown boys basketball program will have a new head coach come next season.
Marcus Moore announced Monday that he is stepping down after three seasons in charge of the Jimmies.
The 32-year old Moore, a former standout at Columbia City High School and Grace College, cited a desire to spend more time with his family as the main reason for his resignation. Moore and his wife Haley have an eight-month old son Logan.
Moore, who plans to remain as a teacher at Jimtown, guided the Jimmies to a 30-39 mark in his three seasons. Jimtown finished 4-19 this past season. His first Jimtown team was 16-7, the only winning record in the last nine years of the program.
Moore helped lead Columbia City to the Class 4-A state title game as a senior in 2004. He then went on to play for coach Jim Kessler at Grace. Moore was an assistant coach at both Columbia City and Huntington North high schools before taking over at Jimtown prior to the 2014-15 season.
Moore’s older brother Matt was hired last week as the boys basketball coach at Fishers High School after spending the last three years at Kokomo High School. His twin brother Scott is an assistant coach at Grace College.
