South Bend First Fridays Celebrates Studebakers
SOUTH BEND — South Bend is celebrating First Fridays this evening and they’re paying homage to classic cars coming back to their old home.
“They’ll have their hoods open, their doors open, you can see them in detail and it’s really a cool thing to see, you don’t get to see it that often,” says Downtown South Bend Events Coordinator, Kylie Carter.
There will not be any parking on Michigan Street and some of the side streets starting at 2 p.m. to make way from the cars, but there is plenty of free parking in the city garages.
Local stores are joining in on the festivities with Studebaker themed food and activities. Cops & Doughnuts is selling sugar cookies with the Studebaker logo and their TV Bars for $2.
Vegetable Buddies has $2 tacos and mules made with tequila. Live music starts at 10 p.m.
Idle Hours Bookshop is hosting a book signing of with author John Bridges for his mystery novel “Murder in South Bend” from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
There are even more activities taking place. Times and locations for all of the First Fridays events can be found here .
