Warsaw Softball: Tigers Outscore Chargers
ELKHART – The Warsaw softball team was in the swing of things Monday night.
The Tigers used a huge first inning en route to an 18-10 win over host Elkhart Memorial in a Northern Lakes Conference matchup.
Warsaw tallied 11 runs in the top of the first frame and never looked back in charging past the Crimson Chargers.
The Tigers, who had 13 hits and 12 walks in the contest, improve to 5-7 overall and finish the first half of the NLC slate at 3-4.
Saylor Bradley continued her torrid tear at the dish to lead the winners. The junior had three hits, including a double, and drove home four runs. She also scored three times in the game.
Abby Glass produced another big game at the plate too. The senior had three hits, three RBI and three runs scored for the Tigers. Glass also pitched three innings.
Sophomore Courtney Chookie had a pair of hits and collected the pitching win in the circle. She had five strikeouts and two walks in four innings of work.
Isabelle Dittmar also had two hits for the Tigers.
Shannon Ryan led Memorial with three hits and three RBI. The Chargers drop to 1-16 overall and stand at 1-6 in NLC play.
Warsaw plays at Wawasee in a conference game Wednesday evening. Memorial travels to Plymouth for a league contest, also on Wednesday night.
