Valley Sports Wrap: April 25
Baseball
Culver Academy downed Valley on the diamond Tuesday night by a final score of 8-7. The Vikings had two extra base hits, including multiple hits from Adam Myers but surrendered four runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the loss.
Valley (4-4, 1-1) hosts Maconaquah in conference game Wednesday night at 5 p.m.
Tennis
The Valley tennis team was swept by Peru Tuesday evening, 5-0.
At one and two singles, Peru won in straight sets. Tiphanie Hodge put up a fight at three singles but fell to Julia Weeks 6-3, 6-1. One and two doubles lost 6-0, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-3, respectively.
Golf
The Vikings finished with a team score of 191, while Culver ended with a 273 Tuesday night at Mystic Hills. Valley’s junior varsity also participated, finishing at 254.
Cade Brouyette shot a 42 to lead the Vikings. Jeremy Julian (47), Chris Schipper (50), Noah Hoffman (52) and John Young (55) rounded out the scores for Valley.
Valley’s JV was led by Austin Crill’s 60 while Culver was paced by a 49 from Cody Rieckhoff.
Valley improves to 4-2 overall and will compete Saturday at the Rochester Invite at Round Barn.
Softball
The Valley softball team suffered a 13-3 defeat at the hands of Pioneer Tuesday night. Valley had seven hits to Pioneer’s 12 in the contest.
Abby Betten led Valley with a pair of RBIs while Ally Betten also had a run knocked in. Sydney Howard led all Viking players with two hits.
Valley (4-9) hosts Maconaquah Wednesday night.
