Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
2:11 p.m. Sunday, April 16, East US 30, west of East Van Ness Road, Pierceton. Driver: Zeb M. Bays, 36, East Wooster Road, Pierceton. Bays struck a deer. Damage up to $10,000.
3:08 a.m. Monday, April 17, South SR 15, south of West CR 600S, Claypool. Driver: Robert D. Floyd, 59, North Thorne Street, Wabash. Floyd struck a deer. Damage up to $5,000.
7:28 a.m. South CR 300E and East CR 450S, Pierceton. Driver: Donna M. Sauer, 59, South State Road 13, North Manchester. Sauer was driving a Whitko Community Schools bus when she attempted to make a three-point turn to turn around. The bus went into a ditch and struck a telephone box and fence corner post. No children were injured. Damage up to $10,000.
5:38 p.m Monday, April 17, Indian Trail, south of Miami Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Aaron J. Hoffman, 32, West Doe Court, Warsaw, and Christina M. Cullers, 34, Indiana Trail, Warsaw. Hoffman began to back out of a residence on Ironwood Drive and was unable to see around a parked vehicle. Hoffman backed into the passenger side of Cullers vehicle which was traveling on Ironwood Drive. Damage up to $10,000.
9:35 p.m. Monday, April 17, US 30, west of SR 19, Etna Green. Driver: Kyle T. Kline, 20, North Maple Street, Argos. Kline struck a deer. Damage up to $10,000.
2:19 a.m. Tuesday, April 18. EMS T40 Lane, south of North Kalorama Road, Leesburg. Driver: James E. Loser, 92, North Kalorama Road, Leesburg. Loser’s daughter contacted officers when Loser left driving a vehicle because he has dementia. His vehicle was found off the roadway. Loser had struck a total of seven mailboxes and two road signs before “ramping off” of a flower bed and hitting a tree. Loser stopped breathing while being treated by North Webster EMS and Fire and was pronounced dead from blunt force trauma. Damage up to $10,000. `
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
6:47 a.m. Monday, April 17, 3100 N. Detroit St., Warsaw. Driver: Michael R. Wilkman, 32, Franklin Street, Nappanee. Wilkman fell asleep after pulling into a parking space and drifted into a parked vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
4:53 p.m. Monday, April 17, West Winona Avenue and South Union Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Jay D. Leeka, 47, North Bourbon Street, Bourbon, and Chase M. Guthrie, 33, West SR 25, Mentone. Guthrie was forced to stop quickly when a driver pulled out in front of him. Leeka was traveling behind Guthrie and was unable to stop in time, rear ending him. Leeka was towing a boat that came unhitched and struck the back of his vehicle. Damage up to $25,000.
6:52 p.m. Monday, April 17, East Market Street and South Harrison Street, Warsaw. Driver: Ashley N. Schneider, 23, East Evergreen Drive, Warsaw. A 1990’s Dodge Ram 1500 pulled in front of Schneider when she was almost in there intersection, causing front end damage. Damages up to $10,000.
