Whitko Sports Wrap: April 11
Boys Track
The Whitko boys track and field team won a triangular meet on Tuesday defeating Three Rivers Conference foes Tippecanoe Valley (72-42) and North Miami (72-18).
Garrett Elder won the 100 dash and also took first in the long jump while Gavin Howard won in shot put and discus. Alex Wilson was victorious in the 200 while Zack Freel won the 400 and Collin Bross the 1600. Logan Busz took first in the the 3200 and Shad Ebbinghouse won 300 hurdles.
Whitko won the 4×1 relay with the team of Elder, Chase Meade, Wilson and Dominic Moseley. The Wildcats also won the the 4×400 relay with Elder, Freel, Isaiah Pierce and Ebbinghouse.
Tippecanoe Valley’s Keith Wright won the high jump with a mark of 5-10 while Camden Tucker won the 800 for the Vikings. Jared Mikel was second in the 300 hurdles.
Whitko (2-0) hosts Rochester Thursday night.
Girls Track
The Whitko girls lost to both North Miami (57-47) and Tippecanoe Valley (57-51) as the host Warriors won the triangular meet.
Kaity Reed won the high jump and 100 dash for Whitko while Suzanne Sickafoose won both the 400 dash and 200 dash. Lyndsey Sapp won the discus throw for Whitko to round out the team’s individual winners.
Valley won the 3200 meter relay for its only event win on the night.
Softball
The Whitko softball team used a 10-run second inning to fuel a 20-1 stomping of Fort Wayne South Side Tuesday night.
Ellie Snep and Shi Bradley each spent time in the circle for Whitko with Snep allowing just two hits and recording four strikeouts. Bradley, meanwhile gave up one hit, one run and had one strikeout.
Anna Ousley was listed as having three singles for the Wildcats while Emmy Duggins had two singles and a double. Bradley, Andrea Snavely, Kennedy Krull and Kristina Slater were all listed as having two or more hits each.
Whitko (3-1) hosts West Noble Wednesday night.
