NORTH WEBSTER — Who doesn’t like maple syrup poured over a stack of pancakes? Learn how the sweet stuff is made at North Webster Community Public Library when Lamoine Beachler presents his Maple Syrup Program at 5:30p.m. on Tuesday, April 11. The Beachler family has been producing maple syrup at their Beachler Sugar Bush near Claypool for three generations. Beachler will explain how maple sap is harvested and turned into maple syrup and other products. Plan to attend and enjoy a sweet time.
Those interested in touring the local National Weather Service Station on Thursday, April 13 can sign up to go at the library’s Circulation Desk. The tour leaves from the library at 2 p.m., traveling by carpool to the nearby weather station located on SR 13 north of North Webster. Weather Service personnel will explain weather forecasting, how watches and warnings are issued, weather technology and more. The tour is free, but pre-registration is required and minors must be accompanied by a parent. Registrations will also be accepted over the phone by calling (574) 834-7122.
If you’re looking for something to do Monday, April 10, come to the library at 1 p.m. for a free adult movie matinee in the Local History and Genealogy Center. Showing is the 1957 movie Twelve Angry Men starring Henry Fonda. The movie runs 1 hour, 36 minutes. Feel free to bring snacks to munch on while watching this American classic.
The Coffee and Canvas workshop 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 22 is filling up fast. Be sure to sign up at the Circulation Desk soon to reserve your spot and pay the $18 workshop fee. The fee includes an 11×14 canvas, painting supplies and refreshments. Sip coffee, paint a Midnight Magnolia scene and have fun.
Lapsit Story Time is underway for the youngest patrons and their parents. Every Tuesday in April at 11 a.m. parents and their babies, ages birth through 36 months, spend time together enjoying books and engaging in meaningful play. Parents are also given resources to foster early literacy skills in their children. Registration is requested. Sign your child up at the Youth Services Desk or call (574) 834-7122 ext. 202. Wiggles are expected.
