Washington STEM Academy Awarded Resource Conservation And Development Grant
WARSAW — The Arrow Head Country Resource Conservation and Development Council announced Feb. 28, that Washington STEM Academy will be a recipient of a grant award of $3,200.00. The Arrow Head Country RC and D represent ten counties including Kosciusko County. The Council received 22 applications from nine of the counties they represent.
Representatives from Washington will be awarded the grant check at the RC and D meeting on Tuesday, March 21, at the Pulaski County Highway Garage meeting room. Washington plans to use the grant for life jackets as they continue lakes and streams studies on the Tippecanoe River as they prepare to remove the dam near Fox Farm Road. Washington students are working with Scott Fetters of the US Fish and Wildlife on this project.
Resource Conversation and Development Councils are organized under the umbrella of the United States Department of Agriculture. According to the program description, the purpose is to accelerate the conservation development and utilization of natural resources to improve the level of economic activity, to enhance the environment and standard of living of the designated RC and D regions.
