Claypool Man Arrested After Repeatedly Stalking Warsaw Dentist
WARSAW — A Claypool man was arrested for repeatedly stalking a Warsaw dentist even after a protective order was issued.
Adam Scott Fulton, 34, 110 S. Main St., Claypool, is charged with stalking, a level 6 felony and invasion of privacy, a class A misdemeanor.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Dec. 18, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a call about a suspicious letter. The victim was a Warsaw dentist, who advised that he had received a telephone call the previous day. The male caller told the victim that he was “the only one that could stop him,” and was not making any sense. The caller identified himself as Fulton.
The next day, the victim found a note attached to his residence door. The note talked about how the author had been abused, traumatized and sexually abused by a different, local doctor. The note did not identify who wrote it. The victim advised that he did not know the doctor the note talked about.
On Dec. 20, the victim received a strange letter in the mail. The letter had the same handwriting as the previous note and contained similar content. The letter had a return address that matched Fulton’s address. In the letter, Fulton talked about being in danger and that he needed help immediately or he was going to hurt someone.
The officer then spoke with Fulton who admitted to writing the note and mailing the letter to the victim. Fulton further advised that he thought the victim was friends with the doctor he was writing about and wanted them to talk. Fulton was given a trespass warning to stay away from the victim’s residence.
The officer then located the doctor referenced to in the writings. The doctor advised that Fulton was a previous tenant who continues to drive by the apartment and harass the doctor and his tenants. The doctor advised that he did not know the other victim involved.
On Jan. 3, the victim’s wife was home when the doorbell rang around 10:30 p.m. She looked out the door but no one was there. At 1 a.m. on Jan. 4, she received a phone call from a male. The caller stated, “you need to tell [him] to release Adam.” When the wife asked the male who he was calling, the caller advised her husband and hung up.
The wife further advised that she had received five previous voicemails. One with no audio, three with a male subject and one with a female subject. All voicemails contained similar content as the written letters.
On Jan. 4, the victim obtained a protective order. The order restraints Fulton from going to the victim’s residence and place of employment. The order includes prohibiting any contact with the victim and his wife. The order was personally served to Fulton on Jan. 5.
On Feb. 15, the victim was driving in Warsaw when he noticed a black vehicle tailgating him. The vehicle was the same type of vehicle that Fulton drives. The victim pulled into a parking lot and the tailgater pulled in directly in front of the victim’s vehicle. The tailgater then gave the victim an okay sign with his hand.
At this point, the victim had not seen Fulton and did not know what he looked like. After the encounter, the victim searched Facebook to find a photo of Fulton and was able to identify him as the subject who was tailgating him.
Fulton was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on March 3 with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
