WARSAW — On Friday, Feb. 10, fifth graders at Leesburg Elementary headed out of the classroom and into the community.

The students were able to spend time with residents at Grace Village as well as Lake City Place. Students entered the nursing homes feeling nervous and unsure of themselves and left feeling confident and happy to have spent time with someone who reminded them of a grandparent.

The 10 and 11 year olds enjoyed painting nails, playing “LOVE Bingo,” answering Valentines trivia and laughing at the stories that were shared. This is the second year that Leesburg’s fifth graders have been able to live out Warsaw Schools’ mission statement and enrich the lives of others while spreading love to others around the Valentines’ holiday.
