Woman Gives Birth In McDonald’s Bathroom
ALEXANDRIA, LA. — It’s a life experience one family will never forget.
Keanna Friels gave birth in the bathroom of McDonald’s in Alexandria, La. on Tuesday morning at about 11 a.m. She gave birth to a healthy boy, Zayden, who weighed 8 lbs. and 6 oz.
Keanna and family members visited a hospital for an appointment just hours before Zayden’s birth. They left with plans to return Wednesday morning to check-in.
But apparently, Zayden had other plans. The Friels estimate that labor and birth lasted no more than 15 minutes, start to finish.
Keanna went to the bathroom, but realized there was something wrong and called her relative, Shanteria Frazier, for help. Frazier told her that she was having the baby and tried to get her to the car, but it was too late to move.
A McDonald’s manager, Loleta Neil, arrived to work just in time to assist in delivering the baby.
“I was running late, but I was on time to deliver the baby,” said Neil.
She said she spotted Zayden’s head and helped to catch him with a trash bag. At that point, first responders took over. They made sure his lungs were clear, cut the umbilical cord and sent mother and baby to a hospital.
The family already enjoys talking about their experience and many call Zayden “Ronald McDonald” as a nickname.
Lakyna Friels, Keanna’s mother, said Zayden was the best Valentine’s Day gift she could ever receive.
The family said they are already planning to take Zayden to McDonald’s on his birthdays.
