Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
6:24 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, West CR 800S, Claypool. Driver: David W. Douglas, 45, West Eldora Drive, Silver Lake. Douglas swerved off the road to miss a deer and struck a utility pole. Damage up to $10,000.
6:58 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, North SR 13, North Webster. Driver: Jeffrey R. Worthman, 64, Taylor Autumn Creek, Fort Wayne. Worthman struck a deer. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
3:46 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, North Detroit St., Warsaw. Drivers: Anthony E. Klepinger, 42, East CR 800S, South Whitley; Georgina A. Ankra-Badu, Briar Ridge Circle, 41, Warsaw; and Jason H. Melgoza, 20, North West Street, Warsaw. Klepinger rear-ended Ankra-Badu. The force of the impact caused Ankra-Badu to rear-end Melgoza. Andra-Badu’s daughter was checked by EMS at the scene and was found uninjured. Damage up to $25,000.
4:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2501 Walton Boulevard, Warsaw. Drivers: Kelly L. Owens, 34, South Lakeshore Drive, Mentone, and Jeffrey L. Gordon, 23, CR East 200N, Warsaw. As Owens was backing out of a Walmart parking space, she failed to see Gordon behind her vehicle and the two collided. Damage up to $2,500.
4:58 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, North Harrison Street and East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Jami M. Heaston, 31, CR East 100S, Columbia City, and Eber D. Rice-Smucker, 65, Woodward Place, Goshen. Rice-Smucker was southbound on Harrison Street when Heaston ran a stop sign and entered the intersection into Heaston’s line of travel. Heaston was unable to avoid the crash and struck Rice-Smucker’s rear-passenger side. Damage up to $10,000.
