Wife Of Winona Lake Officer Charged After Ordering Controlled Substance Online
WARSAW — A Warsaw woman is being charged after ordering Tramadol, a level IV controlled substance, via email for two years.
Chayla D. Foster, 40, Warsaw, is charged with count I conspire to commit distributing or dispensing a controlled substance, a level 6 felony.
A special agent with the US FDA Office of Criminal Investigation was conducting an investigation based on a conspiracy to commit distributing or dispensing a controlled substance.
The affidavit states that in August 2016, a special agent tracked a postal service package containing Tramadol, a controlled substance, to the Foster’s residence. The agent interviewed Foster and her husband, Winona Lake Police Officer Michael Foster, at the residence and was able to identify Foster as the person who placed the order for Tramadol.
According to the affidavit, Foster admitted to ordering Tramadol by email twice a month for approximately two years without a prescription.
Foster stated that she only orders from a single person, but deliveries sometimes come labeled with a different name. Foster also stated that the controlled substance has been delivered to both her home and place of employment.
Foster has not had a valid prescription to Tramadol for over three years.
Foster was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Feb. 9 and held on $5,250 surety and cash bond.
