Shirley J. Jones
Shirley J. Jones, age 79 of Plymouth went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017 in the South Bend Hospice House with her loving family by her side.
She had resided at Catherine Kasper with many wonderful friends since September 2014. Shirley was born on Sept. 19, 1937 in LaPorte, Indiana to Milford and Irma (Phillips) Ginder. She worked for Dr. DeJesus office and for Pilgrim Manor for many years as a caretaker. Shirley loved her Lord, traveling and spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren. Her greatest joy was always a house full of people she loved and everyone was always welcome. She always had a smile on her face. She was a member of the Walnut Church of the Brethren.
Shirley is survived by her children, Pam and Wayne Bishop of Plymouth, Penny and Tim Rowe of Plymouth, Phillip “Danny” Moore of Michigan, and John Moore of Tenn., She was blessed with nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
In 1972 she married her husband, Davis F. Jones and loved his children and the grandchildren they brought to the family, Bill and Janice Jones of Tenn., James Jones of Bristol, Ind., Irene and Steve Cummins of Etna Green, Ind., Dave Jones, Jr. of Plymouth. Also surviving are Shirley’s two sisters, Sally and Dave Francis of Lawrenceburg, Ind. and Myra Rothrock of Wash.; cousins and many very special friends.
Shirley is preceded in passing by her parents and her daughter-in-law, Terri Moore.
The Van Gilder Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the Shirley Jones family. A funeral service for Shirley was held at noon on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017 at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth. with Pastor Bob Rice officiating.
A time of visiting with the family was held on Saturday, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Van Gilder Funeral Home. Pastor Bob Rice will deliver the memorial of Shirley’s life.
The family requests memorial contributions in honor of Shirley are given to the Catherine Kasper Life Care Center, P.O. Box 1 Donaldson, Indiana 46513.
