Warsaw XC: Miller Building To Be A Bulldog
WARSAW – Warsaw Community High School senior Allison Miller is accustomed to leading the pack, and the distance standout has chosen to continue her education at Butler University where she plans to continue her running career with the Bulldogs.
Miller, currently with the top grade-point-average and first in the class of 500 Warsaw seniors, has excelled for the Tigers cross country squad in the fall with four appearances at the state finals meet. The three-time sectional champ has also earned All-Northern Lakes Conference four years.
On the track, Miller will shoot for her fourth trip to Bloomington for the state finals. She was twice named All-State, is a school record holder, and is a three-time All-NLC selection.
While mastering courses outside of school, Miller has mastered them inside the school’s walls as well, maintaining the top GPA while enrolled in multiple dual credit courses, advanced, or honors courses throughout her semesters at WCHS.
If training and studying is not enough, the senior has also been a tremendous representative of the school and programs through her tremendous work with community and school activities. In the community, Miller has served as an assistant with the Blue Ribbon Distance Camp, a YMCA Swim Camp instructor, assisted with Feed My Starving Children as a packer, and she assisted with Habitat for Humanity and Waves for Water awareness. At school her leadership and involvement was vital with the Octagon Club (two-year secretary), The National Honor Society, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Additionally, she is a member (10 years) and became president of Kosciusko County 4-H programs.
A recipient of the Lilly Endowment Scholar award, Miller achieved the Red Apple student award three times at WCHS, was academic All-State three times for Tiger athletic programs, was an attendee at the Richard G. Lugar Symposium for Tomorrow’s Leaders, MMIA Symposium Nominee, and was a member of the 2013 WCHS Homecoming Court.
Miller intends to pursue a bachelor’s of science degree in Health Sciences – Pre PA while running for coach Matt Roe and assistant coach Jared Nelson and the Bulldogs. Butler is a member of the NCAA and the Big East Conference.
