Hamby Arrested For Theft After Driving Off In Pickup
MENTONE — Jonathon Alan Hamby, 37, 5524 Getty Court, Granger, was booked for theft related to an incident that occurred in July.
On July 11, officers with the Mentone Police Department responded to a report of a stolen pickup truck at Wilby’s gas station.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the officers spoke with Leroy Worley, who stated that his 2002 Ford F150 pickup truck had been stolen while it was sitting in front of Wilby’s gas station.
Surveillance video from Wilby’s showed a black BMW pull into the parking lot and park next to Worley’s pickup truck. The driver of the BMW then went inside Wilby’s and purchased a drink. Upon exiting the gas station, this individual then walked around the pickup truck, got in and drove off in it.
Upon checking registration information for the black BMW, officers learned that the BMW belonged to Hamby. Officers then spoke with Hamby’s father. After seeing a surveillance picture from Wilby’s, the father identified the person who drove off in the pickup truck as his son.
Hamby was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on bond for $5,250 surety and cash.
