Pierceton Man Arrested For Attacking Law Enforcement Officer While High
PIERCETON — A Pierceton man was arrested after he attacked a local law enforcement officer who was responding to a welfare check.
Nicholas Eugene Sloan, 18, 8441 E. Old Road 30, Pierceton, was arrested for battery to a law enforcement officer, a level 6 felony.
On Jan. 16, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a welfare check for a subject high on drugs. The officer arrived and spoke with a female who advised Sloan was high from huffing spray cans. He was inside the residence and unaware that officers had arrived.
The officer walked toward the residence and Sloan came out the front door screaming. Sloan then attacked the responding officer, striking him in the chest. According to the affidavit of probable cause, the officer “assisted” Sloan to the ground and arrested him for battery to a law enforcement officer.
Sloan was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Jan. 16 with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
