Claypool Man Arrested After Beating Up Woman Who’s Pregnant With His Child
CLAYPOOL — A Claypool man was arrested after he hit the mother of his future child in the face repeatedly.
Jordan Alexander Scott, 25, 5514 West 500S, Claypool, is being charged with battery causing bodily injury to a pregnant woman, a level 5 felony; battery causing moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor; and invasion of privacy, a class A misdemeanor.
On Jan. 11, the victim had called Scott for a ride after she was fired from work. While Scott was driving her home she received a text message from a coworker. Scott then became angry and demanded to see the cell phone. The victim refused to hand over her cell phone and Scott began hitting her in the face.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Scott then stopped the vehicle and the female exited. The victim had blurred vision and was disoriented at that point. She was able to contact someone else who picked her up from the location.
The victim was 14 1/2 weeks pregnant with Scott’s child during the incident. Scott was aware that she was pregnant as they had been to doctor’s appointments together.
When officers spoke with Scott he advised that he had been home all day. He said a relative could vouch that he was home during the time, but the relative said she had not seen Scott at all that day. Scott admitted that he knew he should not have been in contact with the victim because of a protective order but had taken her to work on several occasions.
The victim was treated for her injuries at Kosciusko Community Hospital.
Scott was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Jan. 11 with a $10,250 surety and cash bond.
