North Webster Man Arrested For Strangling His Wife
WARSAW — A North Webster man was arrested after he strangled his wife when she hid his marijuana from him.
Joel C. Loftus, 34, 801 N. Panorama Drive, North Webster, is being charged with strangulation, a level 6 felony, domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Oct. 14, officers responded to a domestic battery complaint. The victim stated that she and Loftus had been arguing. She stated Loftus punched her in the face several times, knocked her down on the couch and put his elbow on her throat, making it difficult for her to breathe.
Officers observed a bruise on the victim’s forehead, as well as red marks near both eyes and on her neck and chest.
The victim stated that she and Loftus had been arguing because she hid his marijuana. Officers observed items of paraphernalia as well as marijuana.
Loftus was arrested on Jan. 16 with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
