North Webster Man Arrested After Shooting Gun Into Air, Aiming Gun At Officers While Drunk
NORTH WEBSTER — Officers had gun aimed at them after responding to call about shots fired.
John Marion Keller, John Marion Keller, 47, 25 EMS W23C Lane, North Webster, was arrested for criminal recklessness while armed with a deadly weapon, a level 6 felony; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
On Jan. 8, officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and Syracuse Police Department responded to 25 EMS W23C Lane, North Webster in regards to shots being fired. Officers knocked on the door and heard yelling from inside the residence. Keller opened the front door with a rifle in his hands pointed directly at the officers.
Officers were able to convince Keller to go back inside the residence and put the rifle down. Keller agreed and invited the officers inside. Keller was stumbling on his feet and had slurred speech at this point.
Keller admitted to officers that he had fired his rifle with blanks out by his truck. While speaking with Keller, officers observed a glass smoking device and a bag of marijuana inside the residence. Keller told officers that the objects belonged to him.
Officers then searched the area around Keller’s vehicle and located five 40 caliber spent casings. Keller admitted he had fired a 40 caliber handgun into the air. Officers gave Keller an alcohol level test and Keller had a .22 BAC.
Keller was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Jan. 8 with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
