Whitko Athletics: Pair Of Wildcats Commit To Local Schools
SOUTH WHITLEY — It was an active week for two Whitko athletes. Kennedy Krull and Brianna Cumberland both made verbal commitments to continue their respective athletic careers.
On Tuesday Krull gave her verbal to continue her softball career at Huntington University. Krull appeared in all 22 games for the Wildcats last season and boasted a .368 average. In addition, Krull had eight doubles, 11 RBIs and tied for the team lead in home runs with two. The senior has a career .371 batting average and .921 fielding percentage. Krull has also excelled as a member of the golf and basketball teams.
Cumberland gave her verbal to continue her basketball career to the University of St. Francis Wednesday. Cumberland, who eclipsed the career 1,000-point threshold earlier this season, has a career average of 11.9 points per game. Her scoring average, to date, peaked during her sophomore year where she averaged 14.6 ppg. During her junior season, in which she was recovering from a knee injury, Cumberland averaged just 9.4 ppg but has rebounded this season to score at a 13.2 per game clip. Cumberland also has 241 career rebounds and 196 career assists, to date.
Both players currently start for the No. 1 ranked Wildcats and will host Norwell Thursday night.
