Triton Basketball: Hannah’s Heroics
WINAMAC – Hannah Wanemacher did it again for Triton.
The junior’s three-pointer in the final seconds lifted the Lady Trojans to a 36-35 girls basketball win at Winamac in a key Hoosier North Athletic Conference game Tuesday night.
Triton took a rebound off a missed free throw and advanced the ball, sending it around the perimeter before Quinn Downing was able to find Wanemacher open in the right corner for the dagger as the horn sounded for the victory.
Wanemacher led Triton with 18 points, 13 coming in the first half. The junior sniper had four made threes in the game.
For Triton, Whytnie Miller had eight points, four rebounds and two steals while Nicole Sechrist and Courtney Jennings combined for eight points and 10 rebounds.
Courtney Kopka led Winamac with 18 points of her own.
The win for Triton moves the Trojans into a busy top tier of the HNAC standings. North Judson beat LaVille 40-32 Tuesday to move to 3-0, LaVille falling to 4-2. Triton and Winamac are both 4-1.
