Shirley M. Miller
Shirley M. Miller, 79, of Columbia City, died at 11:32 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
She was born Sept. 13, 1937 in Stroh, Ind. a daughter of William M. and Frankie L. (Caskey) Hughes. As a young girl, her family moved to Fort Wayne. She graduated from South Side High School.
On Sept. 1, 1956 she was united in marriage to Gaylord D. Miller. They made their home in Fort Wayne until 1971 when they moved to Tunker. In 1985 they moved into Columbia City.
Shirley, along with her husband, Gaylord, owned and operated the Miller’s Grocery and Locker Service from 1971 until 1985. She worked for Gobbler’s Retreat for nearly ten years. In 1994 she began working for Lyall Products in Larwill where she retired.
She was a member of Sugar Creek Fellowship Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving relatives include her husband of 60 years, Gaylord; four children, Mark Miller of Fort Wayne, Rev. Timothy (Monica) Miller of Bluffton, Mary Beth (Michael) Johnson of Columbia City and Rebecca (Rick) Selk of Manteo Ill.; 13 grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen (Mike) Martin and Betty (Bill) McKinney, both of Fort Wayne.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Columbia City Church of the Nazarene, 506 North Main Street with visitation one hour prior. The burial will be in South Park Annex Cemetery. The visitation will also be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
Preferred memorials are to Sugar Creek Fellowship Church of the Nazarene Building Fund.
