Valley Basketball: Vikings Blow Out Winamac
AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley picked up another lopsided girls basketball win Thursday night, crushing Winamac 69-29.
A close game in the first quarter, Valley led just 11-10 after eight minutes, but went on a 21-9 binge in the second quarter and held Winamac to just 10 second-half points.
The complete team effort had four Valley players in double figures and several others with key contributions. Anne Secrest led the way again with 16 points, four blocks, four steals and three rebounds while Addy Miller and Meredith Brouyette each scored 13 points. Emily Peterson added 11 points, the combo of the three shooters hitting eight three-pointers.
Sophie Bussard had 10 assists, seven steals and two rebounds to go with her four points. Asia O’Connor finished with seven points, five rebounds and two assists.
The Valley JV also had positive gains, beating Winamac 41-33. Sarah Tucker paced the Vikings with 13 points, Emma Craig added 10 points and Jilliam Walls chipped in four points and five rebounds.
Valley’s varsity moves to 10-2 overall with a monster Three Rivers Conference lined up at Whitko on Saturday night. Whitko is 11-1 overall and 3-0 in the TRC, Valley also sitting at 3-0. Both teams are looking up at Northfield, which is 4-0.
