Bids Awarded On Two Projects
WARSAW — Bids on two projects were awarded at the Warsaw Board of Works meeting Friday, Dec. 2.
Selge Construction, Niles, Mich., was awarded the bid for the Osborn Pump Station improvements in the amount of 197,240. The bids were opened at the Nov. 17 board of works meeting. Selge was the lowest of three bids submitted for the improvement project.
Bids were also accepted from Pavement Solutions Inc., for micro surfacing and crack sealant. The amount of the bids were based on square yard costs. Pavement Solutions was the lone bidder for the project. Jeff Beeler, public works superintendent, stated the bids were under the estimated price per pound with work to take place next summer. The project is part of the pavement maintenance program. Funds for such projects have been received by the Indiana Department of Transportation through its Crossroads project. “We have the money in the bank,” said Mayor Joe Thallemer.
Board of works members also accepted the 2017 wastewater budget guidelines, but tabled the stormwater budget guidelines. The budgets for these two utilities are audited twice a year by Umbaugh and Associates to monitor rate sufficiency, revenues and projects. “They have a good handle on these budgets,” Thallemer stated.
The tabling of the stormwater budget dealt with looking deeper into the figures as Umbaugh officials informed Lynne Chistiansen, there was a $13,000 shortfall. Later in the meeting Brian Davison stated the shortfall may be based on the fact Umbaugh used 2015 total figures while the budget was prepared on what had been received in a 10-month period in 2016 with the final two months estimated.
During other business:
- Approved taxi cab permits for AA Taxi and Fast Cabs.
- Approved a change order for Atlas Excavating, West Lafayette, in the amount of $7,371.10 on the Main Street project. The amount approved was for the work completed. Additionally two pay applications were approved to Atlas Excavating, one in the amount of $13,926.55 and another for $94,793.29, all on the Main Street project.
