South Bend Church Collects For Standing Rock Protesters
SOUTH BEND — A South Bend church is showing its support for the protestors in North Dakota.
“Michiana Supports Standing Rock Water Protectors” set up a drive and collected clothing and other items for protesters at the First Unitarian Church of South Bend.
The goal is to get the goods to them so they can stay warm as temperatures
April Hamel, Michiana Stands for Standing Rock says, “I think if anyone is affected in the world or in the world then we’re all affected because if some people don’t have access to clean water that’s a social injustice and we should take stand against as group of humans.”
Native American tribes, like the Standing Rock Sioux, have been protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline near Cannon Ball, North Dakota for the last few months.
