Midwest Roll Forming Receives Tax Abatement
PIERCETON — The Pierceton Town Council was quiet after several months of disputes over a water ordinance.
The only business on the table was for the council to sign off on Midwest Roll Forming’s 10-year tax abatement that was initially presented last meeting. Steve Snyder was again present to briefly talk about the project. Midwest Roll Forming is adding $3.6 million in new personal property, which is new equipment used in a unique form of welding truck and trailer bumpers. Snyder asked the council for a public hearing in the form of opening the floor to public questions, and to formally sign off on the 10-year tax abatement.
After the meeting adjourned, landlords that were present asked about the status of water ordinance that was a topic of business at the last several meetings. The council informed the landlords that the issue is still being researched and there was nothing more to offer at this time. Anna and Brad Bailey again brought forward concerns of landlords not being able to shut off a tenant’s water should they fail to pay.
In other business:
- Pierceton Fire Department had a successful open house. Over 157 adults and 94 kids attended.
