Wawasee Basketball: Konkle Buzzer Beater Sinks Wawasee
TOPEKA – Summer Konkle hit a seven-foot jumper in the final moments to lift Westview to a 37-36 win over Wawasee Friday night in girls buckets.
Konkle took a feed from Alex Burr and sank the shot to give her team its first win in two tries this season. Konkle led Westview with seven points, Burr would finish with six points in the low-scoring affair.
Wawasee erased a slow start to take a 16-15 lead at the half and had just a two-point lead at the end of three at 26-24.
Aubrey Schmeltz had a nice offensive game for Wawasee, scoring 11 points to lead all scorers. Hannah Haines had seven points, and both Casey Schroeder and Aubrey Kuhn had six points for the green and gold Lady Warriors, which are 0-3 to start the season.
In the JV game, Sara Pritchard hit a game-winning shot for Wawasee, pushing the visitors to a 28-27 win over Westview. Pritchard finished with 12 points, keeping the Lady Warriors undefeated at 3-0.
Wawasee will visit Lakeland Tuesday night.
