UPDATE: Saturday Night Accident In Milford Caused By OWI
MILFORD — Five people were transported from a two-vehicle accident where alcohol was involved on Saturday night, Oct. 29.
Around 8:05 p.m., Milford Fire, Police, Lutheran EMS and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to an accident at the intersection of North SR 15 and West CR 1350N, Milford. Upon arrival, officers witnessed two vehicles in the northbound lane of SR 15.
Derek Miller, 19, North CR 425W, Lagrange, was eastbound on CR 1350N when he disregarded the stop sign and struck the passenger side of a vehicle traveling on SR 15. Miller appeared intoxicated when officers were talking with him and was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for wrist pain.
Miller was later placed under arrest for OWI causing serious bodily injury, OWI and consumption of alcohol by a minor.
Caroline Jackson, 34, Dale Avenue, Mishawaka, was driving the vehicle that Miller struck. Jackson and four of her passengers were transported with injuries. Three of the passengers were minors.
Damages were expected to be up to $25,000.
