Claypool Man Arrested For Dealing Meth, Criminal Mischief
CLAYPOOL — A Claypool man was arrested for two different incidents, dealing meth and shattering a vehicle window in rage.
Jeremy Wayne Hughes, 35, 1396 W. CR 800S, Claypool, was booked for dealing methamphetamine, a level 4 felony possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; and criminal mischief, a class B misdemeanor.
On Aug., 23, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department witnessed Hughes exchange 1.4 grams of methamphetamine for $250. Hughes sold the drugs in a Dollar General Parking lot. The officer field-tested the drugs and they tested positive for methamphetamine.
The second criminal incident occurred on Sept. 29. A passerby called dispatch in reference to two males standing in the middle of the road arguing. When an officer arrived he talked with a male who advised his friend, Hughes, and Hughes’ wife had been arguing in the middle of the road when he stepped in and separated them. At that time the wife had left the scene.
The officer contacted the wife and she advised she had a protective order against Hughes but he would not leave her alone. Hughes had called her and told her his truck had broken down and needed help. The wife had gone to help him but when she arrived she got scared of his demeanor and returned to her car.
Hughes approached her driver’s side window and began punching it. The wife had her children with her and began to drive off. Hughes jumped in front of the vehicle so she was unable to leave. Hughes then walked over to the driver’s side rear window and punched it out, shattering the glass all over the youngest child. The wife was able to drive off and get to a safe location.
The wife’s mother later called in to report the broken window as it was her vehicle. The officer took photographs of the shattered window.
Hughes was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Oct. 24 with bonds of $15,250 surety and cash and $600 cash.
