Hundreds Of Clowns Gather At Mexico City Clown Convention
MEXICO CITY, MEXICO — Hundreds of clowns have condemned the recent rash of creepy clown sightings.
The clowns, gathered in Mexico City for the 21st Annual International Clown Convention, reacted to the hysteria that is getting so much attention in the United States, Canada, Europe and lately, Mexico.
The convention is aimed at honing the clowns’ craft and supporting the industry.
They marched merrily through Mexico City’s streets and chanted, “We are clowns. We are not murderers.”
Along the way, they juggled, rode uni-cycles and gave away balloons to spectators.
Clowns are important to Mexican culture and life.
According to the Latin-American Clown Association, there are some 10,000 professional clowns registered in Mexico.
The convention attracts clowns from countries such as Peru, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and the United States.
Clowns threatening residents have been spotted in several Mexican cities recently.
