Syracuse Man Arrested For Theft, Forgery
SYRACUSE — A Syracuse man was arrested for theft and forgery after stealing an insurance payment and forging a check from his former fiance.
Trinton Jared Tuttle, 32, 8811 North CR 620E, Syracuse, was booked for two counts of forgery, level 6 felonies and two counts of theft, also level 6 felonies.
On Aug. 30, an officer with the Syracuse Police Department spoke with Jessica Fought about forgery and theft to her checking account. Fought advised that she had been living with former fiance, Trinton Tuttle at a rental property in Syracuse. On Aug. 5, they separated and Fought moved out of the rental property. She also had her name removed from their joint checking account.
Fought’s mail was still being delivered to the rental property after requesting a change in address with the post office. Tuttle received an insurance payment check in the mail and gave it to Fought. She was supposed to receive a second insurance check but it never came through.
Fought found that the check, in the amount of $4,975, had been sent to the rental property, cashed and deposited into the bank account that Fought had previously removed her name from.
On Sept. 9, Fought discovered a check in the amount of $4,000 had been made out to Tuttle and signed with her name. Fought advised that she did not write that check and did not give anyone permission to write the check. The check had been deposited into Tuttle’s account and endorsed with his signature.
Tuttle was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Oct. 18 with a $12,000 surety and cash bond.
