Allan Andreas Tjernagel
Allan “Big Al” Andreas Tjernagel of Warsaw, Indiana was welcomed into the arms of His Heavenly Father at 12:14 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor of Warsaw at the age of 76, a day before his 77th birthday.
He was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 20 years where he worked as a purchasing agent for Safeway Door for 17 years. Allan was an avid golfter and an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Bremen.
He was born Oct. 18, 1939 in Hampton, Iowa to Ada (Studholme) and Neelak Seralook Tjernagel. On June 15, 1968 he was married to Ellen Marie (Radewahn) Tjernagel, who survives in Warsaw.
Along with his wife he will also be lovingly remembered by his daughter: Michelle Carpenter, Warsaw; two sons: Shawn Tjernagel, Michigan Center, Mich.; Tim (wife Erinn) Tjernagel, Winona Lake; and five grandchildren: Cade, Ethan, Quinn, Deegan, and Elizabeth. He also leaves behind his sister: Anna Brue Tjernagel. Warsaw; sisters-in-law: Barbara (husband Harold) Sebald; Lorraine Radewahn; and brother-in-law: William Van Rooy. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and dear friends, two of which are Edward and Wilma Rupprecht, who were like a brother and sister to Allan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lois VanRooy, nephew, Michael Van Rooy, two brothers-in-law, Harold and Clarence Radewahn, a sister-in-law, Gladys Radewahn, and many aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m.–7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
There will also be time for visitation prior to the service on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 9 a.m.–11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 605 S. Center Street, Bremen.
His funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 605 S. Center Street, Bremen and officiated by Reverend Neil Wonnacott. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
