Mary E. Watkins
Mary E. Watkins, 93, Etna Green, died at 8:48 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw.
She was born Jan. 25, 1923 in Bremen to Franklin and Eva (Kring) Slabaugh. She was a Bremen High School graduate and graduated from Fort Wayne Bible College. On Sept. 15, 1950, she married Dale E. Watkins in Cleveland, Ohio. He preceded in death Sept. 30, 2012.
She lived her lifetime in this area. Mary worked at Fairmont Homes in the payroll department for many years, prior to working at Mutschler Kitchens. She was a member of Nappanee Missionary Church and former member of Hepton Union Church. Mary enjoyed working in the lawn and with her flowers. She loved her family and was an awesome grandmother, always praying for her grandsons who are both policemen.
Surviving is her son, Greg (Lisa) Watkins, Etna Green; grandchildren: Stephen (Rachel) Watkins, Syracuse, N.Y.; Bryan (Katie) Watkins, Granger; great-grandchildren, Liam and Mackenna Watkins.
She was preceded in death by her brothers: Herman, Wilson, George Slabaugh; sisters: Lola Hahn, Mona Lou Heckaman, Kate Christner, and Dorothy Klotzbach.
Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 20, and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service, Friday, Oct. 21, all at Nappanee Missionary Church. Burial will follow at Hepton Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Nappanee Missionary Church.
