WARSAW — A local boutique owner celebrated the two year anniversary of her business and honored the passing of her father and brother during the celebration, Glam 2.0.
Over one hundred people attended the event held at The Vic, 110 North Buffalo Street, Warsaw to watch a runway show featuring the boutique Glam’s fall and winter fashion lines. Guests also enjoyed food, drinks and music as they celebrated owner Michelle Smith LeDrew’s second anniversary of the opening of Glam.
The runway show models, called Glam Girls, were all women who either work at the boutique, or are part of LeDrew’s clientele.
Not only was the evening meant to celebrate two years of Glam, but LeDrew also wanted to honor her father, Charlie Smith and her brother Scott Smith, who passed away last year in a plane crash.
During the event, LeDrew spoke, thanking her guests and telling them a little about what she has been going through this year. She mentioned how it has been a difficult year after experiencing the deaths of two close family members, “It’s been the hardest year of my life.”
“My loss was so great because my love was so great,” said LeDrew.
A portion of proceeds from the event will go towards the Smithstrong Foundation Fund. The Smithstrong Foundation Fund gives a scholarship to an outstanding student athlete at Tippecanoe Valley High School, where Charlie Smith was the first football coach.
During the event, LeDrew played a video made of pictures of LeDrew with her family members, to commemorate her loss.
The winner of a makeover was also revealed during the celebration. Recipient, Stephanie O’ Brien received a full makeup and hair makeover from Glam. She also was given an outfit.
O ‘Brien explained her daughter and sister had submitted letters to Glam explaining why she should win. She said it was a complete shock to her when she discovered she was the winner of the the makeover.
As a surprise for LeDrew, some of her friends and family compiled a collection of videos with various people congratulating her on her two years of success.
In addition to friends and family giving messages to LeDrew in the video, Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell, from the show “The Bachelor”, also made a short video explaining they were sorry they were unable to make it to the anniversary celebration, but applauded her for the work she has done. They assured her they would be returning to Glam when they are back in town for a visit.
LeDrew explains she feels she feels so blessed for the past two years, “It’s been amazing. It’s a blessing.”
“This is my dream.”
