Moses Sentenced for Milford Burglary
WARSAW — Tiffany Marie Moses, 27, Fort Wayne, has been sentenced to two years at the Department of Corrections on a felony burglary charge from a January 2015 incident.
According to police reports, on Jan. 19, 2015, the Milford Police Department responded to the location of 111 W. Section St., Milford, in response to a disturbance. Upon arrival, two individuals fled from the immediate area of the residential apartments. Officers established surveillance on a possible suspect vehicle near the original scene. Moses and another individual were taken into custody. During the investigation officers were able to establish probable cause that she was involved in the previous burglary incident.
During her sentencing, Moses apologized for her actions, admitting to substance abuse, and asked to be placed at Charis House, a behavioral health clinic in Fort Wayne, to gain control of her substance abuse.
Judge Cates denied Moses’s request to be sentenced to rehabilitation at the Charis House and instead accepted probation’s recommendation of two years of purposeful incarceration at the Department of Corrections. Through the purposeful incarceration, Moses will have access to programs to help with her substance abuse in the court’s hope that Moses will be more apt to accept further help after her release. Deputy prosecuting attorney Katie Hampton felt this was the “compassionate decision.”
Moses is receiving two days credit for previously served time.
