NorthWood Sports Wrap: Sept. 24
Volleyball
The NorthWood volleyball team turned in an undefeated performance in the Bremen Invitational on Saturday.
The Panthers went a perfect 4-0 to claim the title of the tournament.
NorthWood defeated Triton 27-25, 25-16 as Kennedy Wiens led the way with 12 kills to go with 10 digs. Courtney Lengacher had five aces and 23 assists, while Haylee Pennington had three blocks. Taitlyn Trenshaw led the defense with 12 digs.
The Panthers topped Prairie Heights by a 25-16, 25-16 final. Wiens led the offense with 16 kills. Lengacher had three aces and 27 assists with Whitney Gessinger having 16 digs and Trenshaw 12.
NorthWood beat Culver Academy 25-8, 25-14. Gessinger had eight kills and Wiens seven in the win. The duo of Nicole Flickinger and Lengacher each had two aces. Trenshaw had nine digs and Flickinger seven and Lengacher 18 assists.
The Panthers beat John Glenn 25-9, 25-12 as Wiens and Alexis Klotz each had nine kills. Flickinger had seven digs, while Trenshaw and Gessinger each had six. Lengacher had 23 assists to go with two aces. Kylie Hochstetler had three aces.
Girls Soccer
The NorthWood girls soccer team lost a 2-1 final at Culver Academy on Saturday.
The host Eagles built a 2-0 lead in the opening half. The Panthers lone goal came off a penalty kick score by Avery Bontrager.
CGA had a 15-2 edge in shots on goal in the match. NorthWood goalie Kira Robinson had 12 saves.
NorthWood drops to 5-6-2, while CGA moves to 9-1-2.
