Imogene R. Clifton
Imogene R. Clifton, 91, Culver passed away peacefully on Sept. 20, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Culver, with
her family at her side. Imogene was born on Jan. 16, 1925, in rural Culver, one of two children born to John and Estella (Hoff) Milner.
While attending school in Culver she met her future husband, Charles E. Clifton. After graduating in 1943, they married on Oct. 20, 1945. He preceded her in death in 2006. While living and farming in the Poplar Grove area they were blessed with two children. Imogene loved her family and spent countless hours thinking up and making things that would keep her grandkids entertained. She also loved her church. Imogene was a faithful member of the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church for over 65 years, serving as their longtime song leader. She was a member of the Maxinkuckee Rebekah Lodge 844 and the Order of Eastern Star.
Imogene is survived by her son: Terry (Carin) Clifton, Culver; daughter: Lavonda (Bob) Banic, Bourbon; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband: Charles; her parents; and brother: Donald Milner.
A time to gather with the family will be held from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Odom Funeral Home, Culver. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, Culver, with visitation at the church one hour prior to the service. Rev. Henry Sprunger will officiate. Burial will follow at Poplar Grove Cemetery.
