David Edward Holbrook
David Edward Holbrook, 70, Warsaw, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2016 in Leesburg as the result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
He was born July 18, 1946 in Warsaw to Paul and Florence Holbrook. A lifelong resident of Warsaw, David was a 1964 graduate of Warsaw High School. He married Lella Hite Sept. 17, 1991 in Las Vegas.
David entered into service with the United States Air Force Dec. 2, 1964 in Indianapolis. He served in the 4th Field Maintenance Squadron as a machinist and was based at Seymour Johnson AFB in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Airman 2nd Class David E. Holbrook was honorably discharged Sept. 28, 1967.
After serving in the Air Force, he became the owner and operator of L&D Machine Shop. He also worked at Deeds Septic in Plymouth. He was the past commander of VFW Post #1162, Plymouth and was a member of the American Legion Post #49 in Warsaw. He greatly enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed four-wheeling. Although he could be “hard headed,” anyone who knew David, knew that he had a huge heart.
He is survived by his wife: Lella Marie Holbrook, Warsaw; his son: Donnie Holbrook, Warsaw; his daughter: Theresa Holbrook, Warsaw; his stepson: Bill (Leonda) Vance, Pierceton; his stepdaughter: Mindy (Bruce) Yeazel, Warsaw; his sisters: Patricia Gaye Justice, Deidra Carol Hughes, Dara Lee Hale, Barbara Sue “Bobbie” Hale; two sisters-in-law: Barbara (Dick) Hite, Akron; Suzanne (Larry) Hite, Mentone; one brother-in-law: Bob (Connie) Hite, Akron; 14 grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son: David Paul Holbrook; three brothers: Wayne Hughes; John Michael Hughes, Rickey Allen Hughes; three sisters: Kathy Lucille Ward; Izora Ruth Hughes; Vickie Lynn Hughes; two granddaughters.
A visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16 at Titus Funeral Home with the service following. Pastor Terry Bradford, First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County, Claypool, officiating. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
