Manchester Claims Gold At TRC
HUNTINGTON – Manchester put it all together Saturday at the Three Rivers Conference girls golf tournament, shooting a 377 to run away with the conference championship played at Norwood Golf Course.
Placing its top four within the top eight of the entire tournament, Manchester was able to steer 31 shots clear of runner-up Maconaquah’s 408. Southwood was third at 413, followed by Peru (428), Rochester (432), Northfield (448), Tippecanoe Valley (458), Wabash (489) and North Miami (626). Whitko only had three players available, eliminating the team from the standings.
Rochester’s Kinley Lingenfelter was no surprise at the top of the leaderboard. Following a state appearance last season, the No. 1 for the Zebras had the only round in the 70s with a 76, registering a pair of birdies among her round. Dayna Dale of Southwood was second at 83, then started the march of Manchester golfers.
Kelsey Eichenauer came in at 90, Lydia Little at 94, Madyson Ulrey at 96 and Karly Eichenauer at 97 for Manchester’s top four golfers. Maconaquah’s Brandi Jones (93) and Tippecanoe Valley’s Victoria Biddle (95) were the only golfers to step between the Squire dominance.
Biddle shot a 45 on the front side of her round, rallying with a pair of pars after a triple bogey on No. 7.
Makayla Sandbakken shot a 107, Blake McBrier a 118 and Bethany Johnson a 138 for the Vikings.
Whitko had Claire Reiff finish just outside a conference nod, finishing 13th with a 104. Holly Hathaway had a 115 and Makayla Compton had a 139.
Manchester will take part in the Huntington North Sectional back at Norwood next Saturday while Whitko, Tippecanoe Valley and Rochester will take part in the Warsaw Sectional on Saturday at Stonehenge.
