Carrie A. Williams
Carrie A. Williams, 78, Rochester, went home to heaven at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, at her residence.
She was born on Nov. 9, 1937, in Rochester, the daughter of Byron E. and Priscilla Merle (Blacketor) Ginn. On Oct. 23, 1960, at the First Baptist Church in Rochester, she married Donnie Williams and he survives.
Carrie, early in life, worked for Farmers and Merchants’ Bank, Rochester and for Webster’s Florist, Rochester. When her children started school, she returned to work at the Caston Schools cafeteria, where she worked for many years. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church, Rochester, and had attended the Fulton United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid, and a was member of the Friendly Twelve Club. In her spare time she enjoyed oil painting, gardening, cooking and interior decorating.
Survivors include her husband: Donnie Williams, Rochester; sons: Michael Williams, Los Angeles, Calif.; Kip (Trish) Williams, Calhoun, Ga.; grandchildren: Ben M. Williams; Brooke M. Williams; and Bailey M. Williams, all of Calhoun, Ga.; sister: Joan (Larry) Evans, Rochester; sister-in-law: Shirley Brown, Rochester; nieces and nephews: Lynn (Joe) Williams, Rochester; Brent (Catherine) Evans, Rochester; Brenda (Steve) Christian, Minneapolis, Minn.; Pat (Jerri) Brown, Rochester; and Perry Brown, Rochester. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, at the Fulton United Methodist Church, Fulton, with Revs. George Hapner and Roger Knebel officiating. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, and one hour prior to service at the church on Sunday. Burial will be in the Fulton Cemetery, Fulton.
